Blacked Out TBA Jingle

Due to our team’s obvious athletic superiority over your team, we’re handicapping ourselves to level the playing field. This week’s handicap is called BLACKOUT. Our team may be called the Darkside, but this week we’re going even darker. What’s darker than dark? BLACK OUT!! The black on our eyes darkens our vision, and the black jello shots finish the job. Every member of our team will do a shot at first base and third base. Think you can keep up? You’re welcome to try!

The Darkerside took to the field in costumes as dark as their souls.

The Darkestside started out strong, scoring two runs in the first inning and taking more jello shots than is generally recommended. While it’s true that the WKL’s only undefeated team did score more runs than their alter egos, the alter egos played their best game of the season, fielding two double plays and scoring a record-breaking seven runs, only to end up losing 24-7. Scottie was rocking the infield, as was birthday boy Sam, who earned this week’s TBA MVP status.

Darker than Dark nearly ended up making the team Blacker than Out, but we kept the party going at the Buck, duh!

Buck U came out with the most epic taunt of their career and received the much deserved win! Nice job guys! So, we put our pocket protectors back in and played kicball!

Apron Assault Squad’s taunt against TBA was the most scathing to date, poking fun at everything from TBA’s Twitter and Foursqare dependency to Andy Pixels sprained neck.

The New and Improved Apron Assault Squad introduced their handicap for the week: A Patron and Salt Squad.

Every player on the team took a shot of tequila at both first base and third base. Mercifully, TBA is not known for getting on base all that often, but that doesn’t mean the entire team wasn’t completely sloshed by the end of the game. I guess it didn’t help that AAS iced our entire team after their taunt.

Final score was Apron Assault Squad 7, A Patron and Salt Squad 1 — TBA’s closest game ever!

Memory gets a little fuzzy after the second pitcher at the Buck, but I’m pretty sure the shots at Del Rey later were not entirely necessary. Makeout party with TBA and Apron Assault Squad, however? Always necessary.

This was maybe my favorite Jamboree Day of all time. Perfect weather, tauntastic entertainment, fun competition on the field and new Canadian friends. Thanks a million to Luke for hosting the awesome BBQ/after party. The good times continued on Sunday with a match up with/against the Canadians. The first game we mixed up teams and played the crazy Canadian rules of 10 runners on a base, all players in the field and “catch and kick.” Next we played WKL/American style rules, USA vs Canada, kept score and eeked out a win in the last inning. We then headed over to the Twilight for drinks, snacks and ping pong on the patio.

Thanks to all the umps and scoreboard helpers for braving the hot sun to make the Saturday games happen –Barry, Rick, Andy, Jason, Noel, Hiram, Matt, Eric and anyone else I missed!! Thank you so much Canada for coming to visit us! Thank you Matt Hickey for helping to coordinate! Thanks to all who hosted the Canadians! Thank you most especially to Justin for having the brilliant idea to invite the Canadians for Jamboree and making it happen as well taking care of umping and coordinating umps and scoreboard help for the day.

The Buck U cheerleading squad and gymnastics deer started things off, and the the Tau Beta Alpha pledges announced their handicap.

Tau Beta Alpha Rush

Due to our team’s obvious athletic superiority to your team, we are handicapping ourselves to level the playing field. This week’s handicap is the Tau Beta Alpha Rush. As incoming freshmen at Buck University, we are all eager to prove our manly worth by pledging for the Tau Beta Alpha fraternity. Now, the exact hazing rituals for joining this frat are top secret, but they do involve the following:

First Base: The Paddle!

Every runner gets a spanking at first base. Additional paddles to safe runners occupying first base are fair game. When spanked, pledges must yell: “Thank you sir may I have another!”

Third Base: Drop and Give me 20

Ok, how about just two? Every pledge must do two pushups before advancing to home plate.

Home Plate: Bros Icing Bros

Upon scoring a run, the pledge must drop to one knee and chug a Smirnoff Ice. Pledges are forbidden from ice blocking. Non-drinkers must chug a Rockstar.

Somehow this resulted in a taunt win for TBA. It’ll never happen again, we promise.

The first base paddle was a huge hit and found a permanent home with TBA — you’ll see it again this season, so watch out. The smaller paddle was donated to the league, and sits in Danielles file folder, ready to spank whiners and haters into submission.

Tau Beta Alpha managed to get six runners to home plate, doubling their previous record of runs in a game. Buck U countered with the requisite 20+ runs.

The spankings continued at the Buck. The rest is a blur. Happy Birthday Danielle! And Aaron! And Scottie!
